Book Review - Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan
Carl Sagan may break from his common theme of astrophysics in this book, but he does not shy away from the core of all science - healthy skepticism and curiosity.
No doubt, this book is also an adventure through a glorious continuum of human perception and the tools available to us to secure our own stronghold of truth.
Sagan wraps us in a quilt of true amazement for the world around us, though one not saturated with mysticism for the sake of fantasy, and one not brutishly scrutinous to impose the folly of a closed mind.
Numerous topics are covered, ranging from the sudden rise of alien abduction stories to the horrifying slaughters of the Witch Trials, and from the very beginning, Sagan paints a theme of analyzing events with what he calls "balony detectors".
His summation of ideas leads us to a strong feeling of his, one of worry - though not of that like the fears that are spawned by blinded eyes. This looming terror is brought on by seeing the world seemingly indifferent to the ways of the logically curious soul, empowered by the bravery to ask questions.
